I've always loved the idea of writing even though I don't feel like I've ever been able to stick with it for very long at any given stint. I appreciate the idea that when you read it's our current best attempt at telepathy. We're just doing our best to copy what was in someone elses head at a different time and place into our own brain. The reality behind this facinates me because, by writing, we're not only getting our thoughts out but we're also drawing a line in the sand to say "this is what I was thinking at this time". It's a way of capturing a moment in time and preserving it for the future.
It's for this reason that I really wanted to make this blog an extremely simple structure without any of the frills of a dedicated software or service that makes blogging "easy". I like the idea that I can structure each individual post to be whatever I want even if it doesn't mean that the style is always the same or consistent. I went with a very simple navigation sceme opting to have a simple header and footer that are as they were at the time that I wrote the entry, as well as a link at the bottom of the entry that takes you back to the, yet again, simple blog index. That will likely change over time as well and I'm alright with there being dead links on old blog posts beacuse I'm trying to capture a single point in time that will ultimately fade to the changes of time. My goal is authenticity and not perfection, a topic that I will likely write about a lot here but I'll save that for a future update.
